However, the portrayal of that fear varies differently depending on if it’s “scary” fear or “surprising” fear. When it comes to horror, no matter what country, it’s a genre that creates entertainment from fear.

“After releasing Juon in Japan in 2002, I worked on the Hollywood remake The GRUDGE and the sequel The GRUDGE 2, and through these experiences I started to understand the difference between fear in Japan and fear in America.
